Ivan & Lesley Button
Ivan & Lesley Button - Senior Pastor
Ivan was born in England, and Lesley on the Chatham Islands. They married in Christchurch in 1968. They have three adult children and six grandchildren.
Since 1984 Ivan has been involved in fulltime pastoral work. Prior to that he worked in advertising as a commercial artist. Ivan has been Pastor at Rangiora Baptist since 1992. Lesley shares his sense of God’s call. They both enjoy communicating biblical truths, particularly in the area of relationships and spiritual growth.
Ivan’s interests include painting and sport. Lesley has interest in writing and craft. Together they enjoy art, British comedy, music and especially family.
 
Andy & Eve Edwards
Andy & Eve Edwards - Associate Pastor
Andy was born in England and Eve in Christchurch, New Zealand. They married in 1978 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. They have two adult sons, Reuben and Hayden, daughters-in-law, Christy and Summer and grandson Judah.
Since 1990, Andy has been involved in full-time pastoral work. Both he and Eve trained as Registered Nurses in the U.K. He has been Associate Pastor at Rangiora Baptist Church since early 2002.
Andy’s heart lies in the areas of caring, encouraging and equipping people. Eve’s heart lies in the area of administration, music and creative communication.
Andy could think of nothing better than going to a five day cricket test, Eve could think of nothing worse, but would happily spend the time on her sewing crafts! They both enjoy rugby, a good read and all forms of music.
Grant & Emma
Grant & Emma Chivers - Assistant Pastor, Youth
Grant was born in Lower Hutt and Emma in Kaikoura. They met in Rangiora through the Rangiora Baptist Church and married in 1994. They have two daughters, Serayah and Jasmine and a son, Micah.
Grant has been involved in Youth for many years at Rangiora Baptist Church. Grant and Emma went to South Africa with YWAM in 1999 to do Discipleship Training School in Cape Town and returned as staff members in 2000 to lead teams on outreaches throughout Southern Africa.
Grant enjoys rugby but Emma doesn't, Emma enjoys shopping but Grant doesn't however...they both enjoy coffee and chocolate and hanging out with friends.
 
Rod & Rebecca
Rod & Rebecca Thompson - Assistant Pastor, Children & Families
Rod and Rebecca were married in 1981, and have four adult children, three sons and a daughter. They have been involved in the Rangiora Baptist Church since 1993, serving in a variety of roles.
Both Rod and Rebecca have had many years of practical experience working with children and families in churches and in the secular environment. They are primary school teachers, and Rod was a principal for 20 years before commencing this pastoral position in 2008. Rebecca currently works at Southbrook School in Rangiora.
Rod’s aim is to build strong teams of Christians who can reach un-churched children and their families in our local communities.
Rebecca enjoys music, gardening, reading, and a variety of sports. Rod participates in multisport events, and especially likes trail running. He enjoys art, storytelling and building things. They enjoy working as a team, and have a mutual interest in overseas missions.
Diane
Diane Lloyd - Receptionist
Diane was born and raised in the smallest city in England; Wells, Somerset, England. She met and married Steve in 1990 during his Big O.E.! They have four children; Emma, Joshua and twins Siân and Tiana and two grandchildren; Jordan and Vanessa.
Diane and Steve have been members of the Rangiora Baptist Church since 1992, during which time they have been responsible for communion and leaders with Dynamite Bay. Diane has also been involved in the past with Children’s Ministry with the 3-5yr olds.
Diane’s interests are; Nuskin/Pharmanex, drawing/painting, sideline sports and hanging out with friends and family; going for bush walks, watching movies and eating pizza and chocolate...not to mention shopping!
